Gruppo di Tessa/Texel massif Nature Reserve

The Tessa/Texel massif is South Tyrol’s largest nature reserve, extending from the Val Senales/Schnalstal in the west to the Val Passiria/Passeiertal in the east.

High mountain farmsteads called Schwaighöfe reach an elevation of 6,560 feet/2,000 metres and are still managed as Alpine farms. An unusual feature of this arid valley system are irrigation channels which divert glacier water to the fields far below. The Parcines/Partschins waterfall thunders 318 ft/97 m to valley.

The Nature Reserve Visitor Centre in the Village of Naturno/Naturns focuses on the theme of water and attractions include three aquariums. The sunny climate and its easy accessibility make the nature reserve a popular destination for walks and hikes.
