Surfer paradise with Hollywood flair!

Lago di Resia/Reschensee in Val Venosta/ Vinschgau

Forget Waikiki! The new surfer’s paradise is located in Val Venosta/Vinschgau. Lago di Resia/Reschensee has long ceased to be an insider tip for passionate surfers who whizz at high speed around the mysterious, sunken church tower. Countless kite surfers also like to take off in the midst of this dream setting. They spiral up metres high in front of the impressive mountain panorama, spin around on their own axes, and display incredible tricks. Those who prefer being more laid-back can take a leisurely boat ride across the lake or try their hand at stand-up paddling.

By the way: Lago di Resia/Reschensee is not only known by water sports enthusiasts, but also functions as an eerily beautiful film backdrop for the Netflix series ‘Curon’. The secret star is, of course, the church tower rising out of the water in the middle of the lake. Today a coveted Instagram motif, the steeple of the 14th century Romanesque church is the only remnant of an idyllic village that had to make way for the floods of the Resia/Reschen reservoir in the summer of 1950. But that’s another story we would like to relate during your next holiday...
