Val Gardena/Gröden and surroundings are sparkling again!

Autumn | Dolomites | Winter | Winter

Time and time again …

… the Christmas markets in South Tyrol enchant us.

Twinkling lights, warm apple cider, sweet roasted almonds … and a huge smile on your children’s faces. This, and much more, is what you’ll find at the Christmas markets in South Tyrol.

In the Dolomites, Christmas markets all over the region  will soon be opening their “standl” doors. A very special location is Val Gardena/Gröden, which is known for offering atmospheric and cosy markets – with hand-made products, local delicacies, and traditional music. We’ve made a list for you, highlighting the most beautiful Christmas markets in the area:

  1. Ortisei Christmas Village: It enchants young and old from 05.12.2024 to 05.01.2025 with festive melodies, freshly baked biscuits, Val Gardena wooden carvings – and a special letterbox for notes to Father Christmas.
  2. Selva Mountain Christmas: This small Christmas market is also characterised by the delicious smell of gingerbread, Christmas carols and Advent songs, and the famous 350-metre-long chain of lights from which artfully carved wooden cable car cabins are hung. It’s held from 06.12.2024 to 05.01.2025.
  3. Klausner Gassl Advent: This medieval Christmas market takes place on the four Advent weekends in the small artists’ town of Klausen. The highlight: Every Sunday, thousands of candles are lit on the historic facades and illuminate the picturesque alleyways of Klausen. Here you’ll feel a profound sense of peace and contemplation.
  4. Mountain Christmas at the foot of Mt Sciliar/Schlern: Kastelruth is also characterised by contemplation during the Advent weekends. Traditional handicrafts such as knitted woollen sweaters, felted items, carved nativity figures, and much more are on offer here. Plus typical local specialities, warming mulled wine or apple juice, and traditional South Tyrolean ”Zelten” Christmas bread. This picturesque event can be found in the village square of Kastelruth, at the foot of the imposing Mt Sciliar/Schlern!

Whether children or parents, grandparents, or favourite aunts and uncles: Everyone will get into the holiday spirit at the Dolomites Christmas markets. So, pack your warm winter hats, gloves, scarves, and winter shoes and then head off to the most beautiful South Tyrolean Christmas markets.
