The Val Passiria/Passeiertal cycle path

This pretty mountain valley is a dream to experience by bicycle. The well-prepared cycle route leads via gravel trails from Merano/Meran to San Leonardo/St. Leonhard following the course of the River Passiria/Passer. There are few significant differences in elevation to overcome and numerous public houses along the way beckon with refreshments, among them the Sandwirt, birthplace of the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer where there is now a museum of local culture and history.

Starting point: Merano/Meran Thermen-Platz
Time req‘d: approx.90 min. up-valley, 70 min. return
Distance: 20 km (40 km there and back)
Elevation gain: 1,198 ft/: 365 m
Cycle path surface: gravel, apart from a short distance of asphalted road near Merano.
