Jam made of your favourite fruit

Cooking with kids

The first strawberries are already ripe and other fruits are developing an intensive, delicious flavour.

It’s the perfect time to make yummy, sweet jams and store them to enjoy over winter. Strawberries, raspberries, apricots, currants … what’s your favourite kind of jam? If you feel like spending a rainy June day in the kitchen, remember that kids can lend a helping hand when making jam by removing stems and leaves, washing the fruits, preparing the jam jars, and then sticking on labels. Whichever fruit you choose, use equal amounts of fruit and jam sugar. Wash the fruit well, cut it into small pieces, and bring it to the boil, stirring occasionally. Once it’s boiled, leave it on the stove for a few minutes and then pour it into the clean jam jars while it’s still hot. Make sure that curious children don’t burn themselves! Tighten the lids well and then stick on homemade labels. When you stay at our hotel near Italy’s Dolomites on your holidays, we’ll give you even more cooking and craft tips to try at home.
