Reach the highest heights in South Tyrol.
Action-packed climbing adventures await.
An adventure paradise awaits families between mountain peaks and dense forests: the high ropes courses and climbing gardens in South Tyrol.
Pure concentration. Your eyes on your next hold. Your route planned out in your mind. You push with your legs, your hand moves upwards, and that’s it: You’re one step closer to the top! Climbing is a great way for adventurers of all ages to challenge themselves, physically and mentally, treating them to thrills galore and moments of pure exhilaration when they reach the top. But they also learn to trust their own bodies, to dare to take the first step, and to keep a cool head on challenging routes.
An especially popular destination is the Villnöss high ropes course, just 50 metres from the Ranui car park. Watched over by the awe-inspiring peaks of the Odle/Geisler Group, brave explorers can swing from tree to tree, balance over swaying rope bridges, and whizz through the air on a total of 10 exciting zip lines, with 12 routes that guarantee action and endorphins. While the little ones get their first taste of climbing on lower routes, teenagers and adults can show their stuff on more challenging sections.
If you love thrills, you should also visit the Mahr climbing garden near Brixen. While it’s right next to the Brenner motorway, you can’t hear the cars here at all. It offers a variety of routes for beginners and experienced climbers. The trail starting at the edge of the orchard takes you up to the rocks in about 5 minutes. Once you get there, you can choose between a total of 42 routes with difficulty levels ranging from 5a to 8b.
The largest high ropes course in South Tyrol is a real highlight: KronAction, directly at Lake Issengo/Issinger Weiher. It has over 140 stations over 11 routes ranging from easy to challenging. If you’re feeling especially brave, you can climb the 20-metre-high climbing tree.
And after an action-packed day, rustic mountain huts beckon with homemade South Tyrolean specialities. How about hearty Speck bacon Knödel dumplings with cabbage salad to give yourself an energy boost?
