A different kind of Advent calendar

Winter | South Tyrol

Our pre-Christmas tip:

An edible Advent calendar!

Yes, you read correctly. Today, let us introduce you to an edible Advent calendar.

What does that look like? Very simple: it’s made of biscuits! For this, you can make the dough for sugar biscuits with your mum or grandma. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about two to three millimetres and cut out star-shaped biscuits. Each star should have a small hole in one of its points so that you can hang them up later. Bake the biscuits in the oven as described in the recipe and let them cool down. Then decorate the stars with royal white icing and, once the icing is dry, carefully paint the numbers 1 to 24 on the biscuits. When everything has dried well, hang the biscuits in stages on a cord and munch on one every day – this way the pre-Christmas season will be even sweeter! Of course, the Advent calendar doesn’t just work with stars, but also with simple circular or square biscuits, which you can number and decorate as you like. And when all the biscuits are eaten, maybe your next family holiday in South Tyrol will be waiting under the Christmas tree!
