Snowshoe walk around the Puflatsch

Starting at the top terminal of the Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm gondola lift at Compatsch, follow the toboggan run uphill and then continue on to the Alpine Club (AVS) hut at 6,400 ft/1,950 m elevation.

From there you can either keep to the footpath or cross the meadows in deep snow at the edge of the pastures to the Arnika-Hütte refuge. Continue to the Goller Kreuz and the weird rock formations called the Hexenbänke (witches’ benches).

You are at the half way point when you reach the Fillner Kreuz. The route continues to the Puflatsch refuge, an excellent place to stop for refreshments, then back to the Alpine Club hut and finally to Compatsch. On this walk children have plenty of opportunities for fun and letting off steam in the deep snow.

Starting point and finish: Compatsch
Time req’d: 3 ½ hours
Elevation gain: 985 ft/300 m
Difficulty rating: easy
