Let it rain!
Bad weather. Great experiences.
Grey outside, wow inside. While your children are jumping through video games – literally – you treat yourself to another cappuccino. Sound good? It gets even better.
It’s raining, hurray! But why is that a good thing? Because you’re in for a fantastic holiday in the Val Venosta/Vinschgau valley. Here are our favourite rainy-day activities.
Become a video-game character
Almost everyone has bounced on a trampoline. But a trampoline where you bounce into the video game yourself? That’s ValoJump. A camera films every jump and shows the kids live on the screen. Collecting diamonds, dodging lightning bolts, beating high scores – there’s plenty to keep them busy and entertained. And time flies by. And the parents? In the meantime, they can savour this rare moment of pure peace.
Discover the sunken village
Have you seen it yet? The impressive church tower that rises proudly out of Lake Resia/Reschensee? On rainy days, when a grey veil covers the lake, it’s even more mysterious. This tower is just the tip of the story – because beneath the calm surface of the water lies an entire village. A village that was flooded in the 1950s, much to the chagrin of the people who lost their homes. The Old Graun Museum with its photos from bygone days and original artefacts tells the sad story. A real eye-opener for children of school age and older and a conversation starter for the rest of your holiday.
Explore secret bunkers
Want more goosebumps? A visit to the bunkers on the Passo Resia/Reschen pass is like travelling back in time. Countless underground passages are hidden behind metre-thick walls, built in the 1930s as protection against a possible invasion from the north. Today, parts of the complex are open to the public. Take a torch, pack your imagination, and explore the labyrinth. I wonder what’s waiting around the next corner.
And if the sun comes out later? That’s good, too. Then it’s time to head out into nature. In the meantime, we’ll enjoy the rain.
