Dawn of the dinosaurs!
The Triassic Park dinosaur nature trail in Val d’Ultimo/Ultental
235 million years ago, ancestors of the dinosaurs lived in the area around the Gampen Pass. Follow in the steps of these giant lizards on the Triassic Park dinosaur nature trail.
Real dinosaurs were living in South Tyrol millions of years ago –numerous bones and footprints bear witness to this. Some particularly well-preserved fossils that even show the impression of the dinosaurs’ skin were found in the 1990s by researchers in Val d’Ultimo/Ultental near the Gampen Pass. These are traces of prehistoric reptiles, which were probably ancestors of the dinosaurs.
This family-friendly hike starts at the charming village of Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde, leads along a forest trail towards the Gampen Pass and back again. The information boards show images of the giant lizards of that time, provide you with interesting information about their way of life and about what the landscape looked like back then. Hardly recognisable, right?
Have fun experiencing nature and dinosaurs with your children!
