Family Resort Rainer ****ˢ: close to the Dolomites
We, the Rainer family, love the Dolomites – which is no wonder once you see this quiet, sunny location in the hiking, biking, and skiing area of Sexten Three Peaks. The excellent gourmet cuisine, the architecture in harmony with nature, with large window fronts, the Dolomit Panorama Spa, and the imaginative activity programme for young and old make a stay at Rainer, your family hotel in Sexten, truly unique. Fancy some hay-hopping or alpaca trekking? Other special highlights that await you: the certified gluten-free cuisine and the designer apartments that are also available for rent.
Out into nature and up the mountains!
These highlights make your summer unique:
- Via ferrata as a family activity with Joe
- Bookable private climbing tours with Joe
- Traditional customs such as bread baking in the Rainer Mühle with tasting
- Overnight stay in the hay barn with roasted apples at the campfire, pony riding
- Alpaca trekking, bike rental (e-bikes)
These highlights await you in winter:
- Ski-in and ski-out – from the hotel’s ski depot directly into the ski area of the Three Peaks Dolomites with 100km of slopes
- Cross-country trails directly in front of the hotel
- Separate ski courses for 5 different fitness levels in cooperation with the Sexten ski school
- Family torch hike with animal track search
- Ski pass directly in the hotel
Skiing with children is especially easy at Family Resort Rainer. We have our own ski rental with ski depot and the beginners' slope with magic carpet is right next to the hotel.
Ski instructors from the local ski school offer courses for children 3 years of age (for a fee) in five different levels of ability, twice per week (also in the afternoon).
After the ski course, it’s time for the childcare programme and supervised lunch.
Every Monday, Joe Rainer, who also works as a mountain guide at the Sexten Alpine School, accompanies children from 5 years of age (for a fee) on a taster climbing tour. Climbing, abseiling, and learning knots all morning: a great adventure programme, also for teenagers.
Bread baking at the Rainer Mühle mill
“Old traditions instead of new technologies” – that is the motto when the little ones bake bread like in the old days. In the old mill in the garden of the Family Resort Rainer, children learn how to grind flour, form breads and pretzels, and bake them in the wood-fired before tasting them. Parents are also invited for a little snack.
Torchlight hike in the snow
Stomping through the snow in the dark and illuminating the night sky with a torch is a special experience for young and old. Children can look for animal tracks in the snow and leave them food balls on the tree branches along the way. At the end, adults warm themselves up with a mulled wine and children with a fruit punch around the campfire.

The first address for families. Holidays at the highest level. We have become regulars because the Rainer family leaves nothing to be desired.
Great location in nature, varied activity programme for children. Climbing with very professional instructors, guided hikes, mountain biking possible nearby. Very nice pool with fantastic view. Wonderful outdoor play area for kids. Many nice little surprises for the guests by the host family.
