Things are getting wild in South Tyrol

The traditional Egetmann carnival parade in Termeno/Tramin

While in Rio during carnival, there is a lot of dancing, in Termeno/Tramin, there is a wedding! Not just any wedding, but a very special one: the wedding of Egetmann Hansl who dresses up for the craziest and most beautiful day of his life. Accompanied by a noisy procession that is as illustrious as it is strange, the groom parades every two years through the streets of Termeno/Tramin, filling the village with festive joy.
This age-old tradition, first mentioned in 1591, still fascinates spectators of all ages. The “Wudelen”, particularly impressive large animals, wander around the village doing crazy things from early morning, while the real wedding spectacle is staged in the afternoon. In all this noise, among trumpet players and whip snaps, the bride and groom celebrate the approaching end of winter with councillors, witches, washerwomen, bears, and other wild animals. This show must be seen at least once in your life because one thing is certain: you will remember this day forever!
