This crystal-clear enchanting mountain lake which constantly changes colour – greenish, another time bluish, or perhaps turquoise, emanates a magical aura.
The Ladin people call it the ‘Lec de ergobando’ meaning Rainbow Lake because of the glorious colours of the rainbow which glisten in its water. This all goes back to the Nymph of Carezza, while the dwarf king Laurin was up to mischief in the rocks of the nearby Rosengarten.
Set in the heart of the forest the Carezza/Karer Lake can be admired from several angles. It is protected and as a consequence cannot be used for bathing, though even without taking a dip this wonder of nature is well-worth visiting.
