Hit the water and have fun

Rafting and canyoning in South Tyrol

Helmet on head, life jacket fastened, paddle in hand, and into the water. A very special aquatic adventure awaits you.

You’re standing on the bank. Your gaze wanders across the water. Green and blue hues, the temperature refreshing. Right next to you stand your kids in their wetsuits. Helmet not quite straight on their heads, their eyes wide and staring. One of them tugs nervously at their life jacket. The other looks perfectly relaxed. But you know that’s not the case, because a very special adventure lies ahead of you all. Then, the guide says: “All aboard.” You adjust your helmet and life jacket and follow the call of the Rienza/Rienz river.

Wild, white water
The origin of the Rienza/Rienz river is high up at the foot of the Three Peaks. It gathers meltwater, rainwater, and everything else the mountains send its way, before rushing down the Val Pusteria/Pustertal valley. Rafting Club Activ’s family rafting tour sets off from St. Sigmund, a district of Kiens, and heads downstream towards Mühlbach, past rock faces, meadows, and forests. At first, the river pulls you gently. You paddle and find your rhythm. Then suddenly, you hit the first set of rapids. Water splashing over the bow, spray in your faces, and shouts that turn into uncontrollable, joyful laughter. This watery adventure is sure to be one to remember.

Rocks, pools, and rock slides – family canyoning
If you’re keen for more – and the kids definitely will be –, you can book the family canyoning excursion. You leave the boat behind and head straight into untamed nature. Over rocks, through narrow gorges, wet stones underfoot, the sound of rushing water all around. Next: a natural rock slide. Smooth, steep, with a pool of crystal-clear water at the bottom. The child in front of you hesitates for a moment. Sits down. Slides. Resurfaces. Pumps their fist in the air. Now it’s your turn. 3, 2, 1 – go. Great fun for children aged twelve and over. And for parents who are secretly just as excited as their kids. Perhaps even more.

Experience the raw power of nature and dive into the watery fun. Countless adventures await you in South Tyrol. On land and on the water.
