Autumn hike in Valle Isarco/Eisacktal

The Gottschalk trail

The Gottschalk trail to the malghe di Valmigna/ Vallmingalmen is perfect for families with kids that love hiking. The trail is named after the first president of the Gossensass tourist office, Major a. D. Robert von Gottschalk. It begins at the Steckholz hamlet to the south of Gossensass and takes you on a forest trail to hiking path number 19A. This then leads directly to the Alpine village of Vallming at 1,830 metres above sea level, beneath Monte Cavallo/Rosskopf. Vallming is also home to a dairy, where you can sample fresh milk, butter, and cheese. You’ll cover 732 metres of elevation and 14 kilometres on the hike, and the entire circular route (there and back again) takes around 4.5 hours. On the way and at the pasture, you’ll enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and replenish your reserves of vitamin D. As you go higher, you’ll be able to admire the first colourful trees and feel the special atmosphere of the golden season. Family holidays are simply wonderful when you stay at our accommodation near the Dolomites!
