April Fool!

Why we play tricks on people on 1 April

April Fool’s jokes can be a lot of fun. We’ll tell you more about this exciting tradition here.

Why do we play tricks on our family and friends on 1 April?

It’s not entirely clear where this tradition comes from, but one theory claims that it used to be done to drive out the cold winter. If someone falls for the trick, they earn the title of April Fool. Have you played an April Fool’s joke on anyone today? If not, we have three funny suggestions for you:

  • Stick wobbly eyes onto everything in the fridge – it’ll definitely make Mum, Dad, or Grandma laugh out loud.
  • Pull all of the laces out of your family’s favourite shoes.
  • Stuff the toes of your kids’ shoes with toilet paper and tell them they must have had a growth spurt during the night.

Here at our Familienhotels Südtirol, we’ve also been busy thinking up hilarious jokes over the last few days to trick our family and friends today. Do you want to find out more fun facts? On your mountain biking holidays in the Alps, you can find out more about authentic South Tyrolean traditions.
