The Schenna Waalweg path

Spring | Hiking | South Tyrol | Valle Isarco | Autumn | Summer

Out into the fresh air …

… and onto the Schenna Waalweg path!

The sun is shining down more brightly every day, tempting us outside. Our walking tip: the Schenna Waalweg path.

The path winds alongside the old Waalwege or irrigation channels without too many ups and downs. It’s best to begin your walk in Verdins in Schenna, where you walk past the church and up to the start of the Waalweg path. It’s so soothing to walk through the woods to the Waaler hut, listening to the rustling of the leaves and the chirping of the birds, and feeling spring in the air. Squirrels are awakening from their hibernation and scurrying to their hidden stores of nuts, the water in the irrigation channels is crisp and crystal clear, and the view of the little village of St. Georgen from above is absolutely charming. You can head back via an alternative route and return back to Verdins after a total of two hours having stocked up on plenty of vitamin D. When you spend your winter or spring holiday at one of our 25 family hotels in Italy, we’ll make sure you always have plenty of great hiking and leisure tips.
