Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday!

But what does that mean exactly?

We’ll tell you what Ash Wednesday is all about.

Ash Wednesday falls exactly 46 days before Easter Sunday every year. It’s the day when Carnival time ends and Lent begins. Here in South Tyrol, many people give up eating sweet treats, watching TV, or something else they enjoy during these 40 days (because Sundays don’t count), and don’t eat meat on Fridays. It helps them get in the mood for Easter. Will you be giving something up for Lent, too? But you don’t necessarily have to give something up, you could also pay someone a compliment on each of the 40 days, or enjoy 40 little adventures with your kids, so you’re consciously taking time for your family. Here in our Dolomites hotels, you can look forward to very special traditions at Easter, like egg tapping. It’s popular with people of all ages and is played at the lunch table on Easter Sunday. Do you want to give it a try? Then treat yourself to a family holiday in South Tyrol this spring!
