A trip to the stars

Twinkle, twinkle, little star …

… how I wonder what you are.

Pay a visit to the Max Valier observatory and the Peter Anich solar observatory in Gummer – it is a unique experience for the whole family! Reach for the stars during your holidays!

Have you ever looked up to the sky and asked yourself how far away the stars are from the earth and what their names are? In the Max Valier observatory, which is named after the well-known South-Tyrolean astronomer and rocket engineer, you can observe the twinkling stars through several telescopes. There are guided evening tours every Thursday (for everyone) and Friday (only for announced groups) throughout the whole year.

But these aren’t the only natural wonders you can admire during your family holiday in the mountains. In the adjoining Peter Anich solar observatory, you can reach to the biggest star of them all: the sun.

Those of you who want to know more can visit the planet trail that leads through meadows and biotopes. Here, the planets are arranged on a scale of 1 to 1 billion. How long does it take you to walk to Mars? You will certainly find out while exploring the vastness of space and enjoying the surrounding mountains.

Have fun travelling to the stars!
