22.05.2012 - Lady's slipper orchid or frog orchid? Brightly coloured orchids are undoubtedly the stars along the Proves (Proveis) Nature Trail. Its beauty and diversity has made the orchid the Queen of Flowers. In this area alone, 22 different species are known. Proves, situated at an elevation of 1,460 metres and located southwest of Val d’Ultimo (Ultental) Valley, is the endpoint of the hike. The trail, an easy 3 hour hike, runs from Hofmahd across alpine pastures and the forests of Val di Non (Nonsberg) Valley along the border between the Italian and German language areas and the provinces of South Tyrol and Trentino.
