The Monteneve/Schneeberg Passer/Passeier adventure mine
For five centuries miners toiled here in Europe’s highest mine in over 130 km of galleries and shafts excavated deep in the bowels of the mountain extracting lead, silver and zinc ore. Today it is open to the public and many of the installations are still in working order. Consequently this is no normal museum to visit but an opportunity to experience everyday working life as it once was. Outdoors a didactic trail leads up to the Schneeberg refuge where visitors can savour excellent South Tyrolean fare.
